The Smell of Success
Qing Yuan and Su-Fern are founders of #SundayScents - Singapore’s first and only perfume subscription service. As “accidental entrepreneurs” who saw a business opportunity, they also have to manage their own careers.
Read on to find out 3 tips on how entrepreneurs manage their careers.
#attitude Have the right attitude
Without any prior experience being a perfume retailer, we had to learn a lot on our own. The early stages of our business was a steep learning curve for us - lots of discussions, market research, partner sourcing, learning about e-commerce. Looking back, it was our attitude of grit or “never say never” which helped build #SundayScents.
#alwayslearn Learn something new everyday
People often think that entrepreneurs have free time. They are so wrong. Besides handling the daily battlefield of decisions and operations to manage, we still need to do a lot of unstructured learning on our own, through people we meet, books, articles, and videos to help us understand more about our industry and our customers.
#coachmepls Find mentors, coaches
We have good friends we can bounce ideas off and mentors who can advise us in areas where we may not be familiar with. Beside supporting our business agenda, we also understand and learn about the outside world from them.
